A summer picnic on Hamilton Street. |
Today 221 Hamilton Street is home to Stepping Stones Children's Therapy Services and the management offices for Mosaic. But throughout the 1980's and early '90's, the two-story building contained bedrooms and living spaces where people with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries lived out fulfilling lives.
Gloria Bezio, habilitation coordinator at ICF 1, has been with the facility since 1983 and remembers the days at Hamilton Street.
Bezio said they would often take the residents outside for cooking classes, parades, and trips to campgrounds around St. Lawrence County.
Residents and staff had a great view of the Seaway Festival Parade. |
Some of the vans (old school!) used to bring residents camping. |
