United Helpers Now Accepting Crypto Currency Donations

OGDENSBURG – Much the same way donors can gift cash, stocks, bonds, real estate or other assets, those looking to support the United Helpers mission can now contribute to the organization using cryptocurrency. 

United Helpers Vice President of Development Christa Carroll said donations in the form of Bitcoin, Dogecoin, or dozens of other popular cryptocurrencies can be made online at www.unitedhelpers.org/crypto.

Once on the crypto giving page, Ms. Carroll said donors will complete a simple online form, much the same way they would if they were making a traditional gift with their debit or credit card.

“If you happen to be one of the millions of people who have invested in cryptocurrencies, we wanted to make it as simple as possible for you to contribute to our cause,” Ms. Carroll said, citing a report from CNBC that states one in in five Americans has invested in, traded, or used cryptocurrency.

“We are excited to become one of the first non-profits in our area to have this capability,” she said.

Lowes Donation Brings Raised Garden Beds to Eight United Helpers Facilities

OGDENSBURG - Thanks to a donation of lumber and materials worth more than $1,200, the residents at seven United Helpers facilities will be able to enjoy gardening this spring and summer. 

Ogdensburg Lowes Assistant Manager Bob Ingersoll, Ogdensburg Store Manager Jordan Jock and Live Nursery Specialist Brian Bennett, who also operates an organic farm in the Heuvelton area, recently spent time at the McIntyre IRA helping the home’s residents plant tomatoes, peppers and a variety of herbs and spices in one of the newly built raised garden beds.

The raised garden beds were built by Mosaic Maintenance staff and placed at Pleasant Valley IRA in Norwood, Cherry Street IRA in Potsdam, Irish Settlement Road IRA in Heuvelton, Lisbon IRA, as well as McIntyre Road IRA, Centennial Manor IRA and Gateway Apartments in Ogdensburg. An eighth box was also placed at the United Helpers Management Company in Ogdensburg. 

Mosaic Receives Large Donation of Seeds from Garden Club by Way of Walmart

A donation of nearly 2,000 seed packets made its way to the participants in United Helpers Mosaic Day Habilitation Program. The donation came to Mosaic through the Ogdensburg Garden Club, who received a large donation of seeds from the Ogdensburg Walmart Store. The Garden Club kept roughly 1/3 of the seeds for its own projects, donated 1/3 to Mosaic and donated 1/3 to another community organization.
