Ogdensburg
–When occupational therapist, Patti L. Prouty began her employment quest, she
knew she was looking for more than the next job, she was looking for a team
that shared her vision.
“I
love being an occupational therapist and I knew I wanted to work with a
progressive, collaborative team,” Ms. Prouty said. “My husband and I were
flipping through television channels one night, when a commercial for United
Helpers popped on the air,” she recalled. “My husband said, ‘What about United Helpers? They look like
they look like a pretty progressive team?’ I thought, why not? I applied.”
Ms.
Prouty interviewed with Terry Micelli, Director of Therapy Services for United
Helpers and was offered a job. “Patti is a good fit,” Ms. Micelli said. “The
culture of the United Helpers organization is to be collaborative, to work
together for better outcomes, to be a team. Patti is a compliment to our team.”
The
United Helpers therapy team provides speech, occupational and physical therapy
and treats people of all ages. “Having all of the therapy disciplines available
is truly beneficial for our patients,” Ms. Prouty added. “If I am working with
a person who is recovering from a stroke, I know that I can count on the speech
and physical therapist to work with me to come up with creative ways to help
our patients achieve their goals. The patient has a team of caregivers, not
just one perspective.”
Ms. Prouty
is a graduate of Utica College and has earned a Master’s in Occupational
Therapy. She is Board Certified with advanced training in Hand Therapy and also
has a special interest in working with stroke, traumatic brain injury, and low
vision therapies. She brings a strong clinical background to the team and has
experience working with people of all ages.
The
United Helpers therapy team provides out-patient services as well as
post-hospital (subacute) rehabilitation at RiverLedge Campus in Ogdensburg and
at Maplewood Campus in Canton. To schedule an appointment, or for information
on the services provided, call RiverLedge Campus at 393-0730 or Maplewood
Campus at 386-4541 or visit online at www.unitedhelpers.org. To
