Edwards Senior Court apartment reopens after spring fire

Sandra Whitford.

The rebuilding is complete. Nine months after a fire damaged the apartment complex, building two at Edwards Senior Court, Edwards, has been refurbished and residents have moved back.
The electrical fire took place the morning of March 22, and thanks to the quick actions of caretaker Larry Wisner no one was hurt.

Resident Sandra Whitford said after nine months of living with family and renting an apartment from a friend, she’s happy to be home.

Her apartment has been completely redone, featuring a larger, more spacious kitchen and a layout focusing on open space.

Ms. Whitford said the move back was smooth with caretakers working to ensure her needs are attended to quickly.

And Ms. Whitford’s cat, Miss Kitty, is also happy to be back.

Miss Kitty was missing in the hours after the fire in March but was found safe and sound hiding in the partially burnt bedroom. “I’m glad my Kitty is okay,” Ms. Whitford said.

Edwards Senior Court currently has vacancies. If you’d like to learn more about the facility or schedule a tour call (315) 393-3074.
